This past Monday and Tuesday, City Surf Project came to Santa Cruz. The City Surf Project is an organization that makes it possible for the low-income youth of San Francisco to learn about ocean safety and how to surf. Co-founders John Irwin and Hunter Chiles hope to not only teach these kids to surf, but instill self confidence and the tools needed to thrive in every day life. This program provides natural stress relief and an opportunity to experience something outside of the youth’s neighborhood. This week City Surf took high schoolers from Ceiba College Prep Academy in Watsonville out to Manresa Beach.
