This past Saturday the best big waves surfers gathered in Anaheim, California to honor and celebrate the 2015/2016 El Nino Season. Over $350,000 was awarded to the winning surfers. The night started off historically when Keala Kennelly (KK), won the Pure Scot Barrel. This is the first time in history a female has won in a men’s category. Following KK’s win, Andrea Moller won the Best Woman’s Performance. Fellow Brazilian surfer, Yuri Soledade won Biggest Wave Award. The Best Wipe Out was awarded to Niccolo Porcella and Aaron Gold took home the Biggest Paddle Award. Shane Dorian won big, taking home a collective $80,000 by winning the first and fourth Billabong Ride of the Year and the Surfline Overall Performance Award.
